The Most Reverend W. Shawn McKnight, Bishop of Jefferson City, is asking all parishes and Catholics to join in a global day of prayer and fasting for peace on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
All in the Diocese of Jefferson City are asked to participate by fasting, praying for peace and abstaining from eating meat.
The urgent call for this day of prayer and fasting was originated by Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
Cardinal is also asking for Catholics to participate in Eucharistic adoration and to pray the Rosary. “Only in this way we can draw the strength and serenity needed to endure these hard times, by turning to Him, in prayer and intercession, to implore and cry out to God amidst this anguish,” said Cardinal Pizzaballa.
