Children are normally prepared to receive Eucharist for the first time during their second grade school year. Preparation for the child includes formation through the regular weekly Parish School of Religion program plus 3 to 4 sessions with parents during the summer months. The actual celebration of this sacrament typically occurs during late July or early August at a mass dedicated to those young people receiving the sacrament for the first time.
