The Ministerial Alliance of Unionville, of which Saint Mary is a member, maintains a Thrift Store, The Bargain Barn, at 1802 Washington Street. The Bargain Barn is open 9-4 Monday thru Friday and from 10-3 on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays. Anyone is welcome to shop and items are priced inexpensively. Proceeds are used to support the stores operational expenses.
There are at least two opportunities for ministry. First is volunter staffing and the second it item donation. Staffers schedules can be flexible. Item donations should be in good working order and currently useful. Donated clothing should be lightly used.
Contacts are Linda Clark, Kay Bonifazi or Homer Poor.
This group is responsible for the landscaping and maintenance of the Saint Mary Facilities. Mowing, snow removal, plants and flowers, painting, cleaning and miscellaneous repairs are among the tasks this ministry undertakes.
Contacts are Gene Brummer or Bill Bovy.
For any calendar month that contains five Sundays, about four times a year, Saint Mary uses the occasion to gather together for a Fifth Sunday Communal Brunch which immediately follows the Sunday mass.
The parish provides the entree, drinks and tableware. Attendees may bring a salad, dessert, vegtable, anything else or nothing at all. Some previous entrees have been porkloin, baked ham, pulled pork, fried chicken, and beef brisket.
There is always plenty to eat. All are welcome whether they bring a dish or not. Just come and join in the fellowship and good food.
Our weekend lake visitors are especially invited. We know leasure time is precious. We try to feed your family a lunch as quickly as you could anywhere else.
Everyone is always welcome, including the friends and neighbors any parishioner might like to invite.
