This week total contributions and pledges to our "Gathering Space" Fund reached $47,502. That is almost half of our $100,000 goal. A huge thank you to all those who have joined this effort to build for our future. And a sincere invitation to those yet to join us, to help this faith community better serve the faith formation, administrative and fellowship needs of our Saint Mary family.

The November General Assembly of Bishops in Baltimore was a difficult but perhaps unavoidable experience for us to move forward as a Church. My reflections on the meeting are available on our website. There is a pdf version which can be easily printed for bulletins or discussion groups. Thank you to the approximately 500 who attended one of the six listening sessions. Your insights and concerns greatly helped me in forming my focus for the General Assembly. We now have the redacted comments from the listening sessions available on our website, diojeffcity.org.

Thanksgiving Day is rapidly approaching. If you would like to assist in the support, preparation or serving of Unionville's annual Thanksgiving Day meal please contact Lois Brummer. The meal is served beginning at noon Thanksgiving Day in the Putnam County 4H Building.

Saint Mary will celebrate the feast of our Blessed Mother as Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas. Holy Mass will be celebrated in the Milan Community Center on December 10, 2017, at 4:00 pm followed by a community meal and entertainment.

Pope Francis has named Father Shawn McKnight, a priest of the Diocese of Wichita, as the new bishop of Jefferson City after accepting the resignation of Bishop John R. Gaydos. The appointment was publicized in Washington on November 21, 2017 by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

Bishop Gaydos has assigned Father Geoffrey Brooke to serve as the Sacramental Minister for both Milan and Unionville. WELCOME TO SAINT MARY FATHER GEOFFREY

Effective February 6, Saint Mary in Milan and Unionville will have a new Sacramental Minister. Father Griffey will transfer to serve the Catholic faithful in Sedalia and Father Geoffrey Brooke will begin service at Saint Mary.

May the light of Christ push aside the darkness. And may the Peace of Christ fill your hearts and your homes in this blessed time.

As you will soon see, decorating Saint Mary for Christmas is a well choreographed event.

Saint Mary Milan will celebrate "Las Posadas" each evening at 6:00 pm in the church basement from December 16th thru the 24th.
